History

Nabakrushna Choudhary Library named after veteran freedom fighter, Sarvodaya Leader & former chief minister of orissa was established in the premises of AWDI on 23rd November 1984. it is an academic cum public library which is first of its kind in & around the peripheral territory of Rourkela.

Objective

	To cater to the need of text book, reference book & study material of the students & academic staff of AWDI
	To cater to the variety need of library users including the general public members
	To convert NKCL to a rich e-library having widespread connectivity with all leading libraries around the globe
	To promote continuous research activity and publish research materials of highest standard

General Rules

	The library is open to staff & students & registered public on production of valid library card
	The library is open from Monday to Saturday & closed on Sunday, public holidays and other days of obligation
	The opening hours of library are as follows: Monday to Saturday- 9 A.M To 10 P.M Lunch Break- 1 P.M To 2 P.M
	Members are required to produce library card for identification at the main library entrance
	Users are subjects to inspections at the main library entrance while leaving the library
	Library users shall keep their mobile phone switched off while in the library & shall maintain absolute silence
	The computer meant for users in the library are only for research purpose. However diskettes / CD ROM / DVD ROM , Pen drive etc are prohibited
	Users wishing to take Xerox copies of library reading materials can make use of photocopy services available in library as long as they observe copyright regulations
	Other rules relating to library have been displayed in the library notice board

Library Services

Borrowing Services

	Reference books, unpublished thesis/dissertations, reserved reading materials & periodicals are not for borrowing
	Any borrowed may be called back any time

Library Catalogue (OPAC)

library has a online public access catalogue (OPAC) & a backup card catalogue.

Photocopying Services

These services are available for every library users On nominal payment basis.

Internet Services

This service is available in the library only for research purpose.

Information Resources

General Collection

These are volumes of books in open shelves & are available for borrowing by library users. Total collection of book is 16,962.

Reference Book

These are reference books that are on high demand & are available in few copies in library. They are normally used by the readers in the reading room. Borrowing these books are limited to the faculties for a short time. Usually these books are concentrated within the library.

Journal Collections

The library acquires a very wide range of journals/periodicals through subscription. The library has a good collection of bound & non-bound journals/periodicals which gives our users a good base for research.

Electronic Journals

The library also subscribes a few no. of electronic journals.

Thesis / Dissertation & Projects

The library maintain a wide collection of thesis/dissertations & projects written by students & staffs & also thesis/dissertations published by other institutions.
